The Birmingham City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve the vacation of 154,638 square feet of unopened right of way near Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport to pave the way for a new $27 million Air Cargo Facility. The vote came less than two weeks after a groundbreaking at the site on May 24.
Construction is expected to take 10 months and be completed by spring 2024.
